I am looking forward to an exciting school year, and I hope your child is eager to begin the year too. To ensure a happy and successful school experience, close cooperation and communication between the home and school are essential. This is going to be a very busy year for your child. In order for it to be the most successful year possible, I would like your help at home and at school. You are encouraged to call, send notes, or arrange classroom visits so that we may discuss your child’s progress or solve any problems that may come up.
BACK-TO –SCHOOL-NIGHT is scheduled for Thursday, August 22 from 5:00-7:15 PM. Third grade will be from 5:00-5:45 p.m. I will be going over parent/teacher communication, third-grade curriculum, homework, Fun Friday, discipline, birthdays, etc. I hope to see you there.
Homework packets will be sent home each Friday and due the following Friday. I do assign nightly homework on a regular basis. This usually consists of math and any unfinished class work. Students will record homework assignments on a homework chart. The homework chart is a valuable tool to help you and your child. Please check it daily. Please sign it on Thursday night and return it to school with your child’s completed homework packet on Friday. This ensures you have seen your child’s homework assignments. Whether you use schoolbooks, library books, or your own books, you should read with your child daily. It is proven the best way to improve reading skills is to READ. I require students to read 15-20 minutes each school night.
Physical education will be on Tuesday with Ms. Donatelli, our district assigned P.E. teacher. I will usually do P.E. with students on Thursday afternoons. Please make sure your student dresses appropriately.
I am looking forward to meeting you. If you have any concerns or questions, please contact me at (951) 471-2184 between 7:30 AM and 2:00 PM.
